Reset and rebalance in January 2025

Wellbeing: Nurture in nature

Reset and rebalance

Friday 17th January 2025
9:45am - 2pm

Connect back to your body

Start the new year with the opportunity to reconnect with your body.

Our body speaks to us all the time but with busy lives we don’t always listen.

We’re not always in tune or even in sync with our bodies.

Stress and worries of the mind, certainly show up in the body too. Certain times of the year don’t always help either.

Whether we hold tension in our muscles, like our back, shoulders and hips; or it just shows up in our work or daily tasks with an inability to focus on the task in hand; we need the tools to learn new habits or even unlearn old, bad habits.

Resetting the nervous system to manage stress more effectively

This all relates back to our nervous system and actually trying to balance out the nervous system, between our parasympathetic nervous system (the chilled one) and the sympathetic nervous system (the action one) is not as easy as it sounds.

When we can find balance with our nervous system, we can increase our heart rate variability (HRV) (our heart health) and decrease our resting heart rate (RHR). Balancing these two will improve your overall health, increase our longevity and result in a balanced nervous system.

A day to reset and rebalance

This Wellbeing day, focused on tuning into our nervous system is a great way to reset the body and mind. A way to put your best foot forward. Day one if you like!

You’ll complete the day feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and most importantly deeply relaxed. You’ll gain knowledge and learn tools that actually work for you in terms of rebalancing out your nervous system.

The day will work towards finding a deep relaxation within our bodies, allowing us to check out of our minds.

Exploring the body to help reset

As we age, aches and pains can start to creep up on us. Often we’ll put it down to old age and carry on! But most aches and tightness/tension within the body is muscular which means you can do something about it.

This workshop session is suitable for everyone, including beginners; with guided instructions and techniques to help you switch on some of those smaller, underused muscles within the body and start to ease some of the muscular pain you may experience.

We work with the breath and provide a deeper feeling of engagement and resistance within your body to build heat and strength in the body without necessarily moving fast.

In colder months we can typically retreat indoors. However, time spent outdoors in nature can be a great way to boost the mind and body, as well as the nervous and immune system.

Experiencing natural sunlight can boost your mood and productivity.

Join us for a day away in the magical space that is The Walled Garden School. Surrounded by nature in ancient woodland, this space will take you a world away from it all.

We’ll round up the day seated at a big table within the Walled Garden, with a hearty, warming, delicious veggie lunch provided by the award-winning Hawarden Farmshop.

Schedule

9:45am: Meet, greet and walk and breathe through the walled garden

In this restorative day for yourself; and maybe friends or loved ones, we’ll start the day with a hot drink around the fire pit, before heading off for a walk around the beautiful walled garden. We’ll take this walk up to the ‘old castle’, where we’ll enjoy some various breath work techniques, designed to warm us up from the outside in; whilst enjoying the breathtaking rural views from the top of the of hill. It’s an opportunity to discuss old habits and perhaps plant seeds for new habits to grow.

11am: Move, breathe and flow

We’ll head back to roll out our yoga mats indoors in the new space at The Walled Garden School whilst still feeling connected with the natural world.

We’ll enjoy flowing movement to expand our bodies and hearts. When we expand and open our chest, we can fully feel our inner power within. Our posture is greatly improved and we can allow ourselves to feel the finer muscles within our bodies that may need to be awakened.

12:15pm: Relaxation

We’ll cosy up under thick wool blankets and hot water bottles and be guided through a deep relaxation for the ultimate experience in self-care. These are the tools you can use to take with you to create new habits and routines to help you find a more balanced nervous system.

1pm: Refuel (lunch from the award-winning Hawarden Estate Farm Shop is included)

We’ll round up our restorative day with a hearty, warming lunch to fuel our bodies and minds and chat with like minded new friends.

2pm: time to say goodbye
