Winter Yoga - Retreat Away: Friday 15 December, 10am-2pm

Step outside with time for yourself

Friday 15 December 2023
10am - 2pm (inc lunch)

Join us in the great outdoors for a morning of self-care for yourself. Escape this busy, sometimes stressful month with a few hours to yourself or maybe some well deserved downtime with a friend or loved one.

In colder months we can typically retreat indoors. However, time spent outdoors in nature can be a great way to boost the mind and body, as well as the immune system. Experiencing natural sunlight can boost your mood and productivity.

This is our fourth successful retreat away in the magical space that is The Walled Garden School. Surrounded by nature in ancient woodland, this space will take you a world away from it all.

Emma Garland The Good Food Yogi The Walled Garden School The Good Life Society

We’ll wrap up warm and enjoy a walk around the beautiful gardens and up to the old castle for some breathwork and meditation. Heading back down to our sheltered space for a hot drink before we start to warm up and move with an invigorating yoga flow to energise the body and mind.

This yoga session is suitable for everyone, including beginners with guided instructions and techniques to help you switch on some of those smaller, underused muscles within the body. We work with the breath and provide a deeper feeling of engagement and resistance within your body to build heat and strength in the body without necessarily moving fast.

Our final session/wind down will provide some much needed relaxation where you can wrap up warm; under thick wool blankets and hot water bottles, still breathing in the cool air; as you’re guided through your relaxation to really feel like you’ve fully switched off from the outside world as you cosy up and hibernate for the ultimate in deep relaxation.

We’ll round up the day seated at a big table within the Walled Garden, with a hearty, warming, delicious veggie lunch provided by the award-winning Hawarden Farmshop.

Schedule

9:45am: Meet, greet and meditative walk through the walled garden

In this restorative day for yourself; and maybe friends or loved ones, we’ll start the day with a hot drink around the fire pit, before heading off for a meditative walk around the beautiful walled garden. We’ll take this meditative walk up to the ‘old castle’, where we’ll enjoy some various breathwork techniques, designed to warm us up from the outside in; whilst enjoying the breathtaking rural views from the top of the of hill.

11am: Move, breathe and flow

We’ll head back to roll out our yoga mats in The Walled Garden School which is sheltered from the cool wind and undercover, allowing you to take in the fresh air and still feel connected with the natural world.

We’ll enjoy flowing movement to expand our bodies and hearts. When we expand and open our chest, we can fully feel our inner power within. Our posture is greatly improved and we can allow ourselves to stand taller and fully embrace the coming cooler seasons ahead.

12:15pm: Relaxation

We’ll cosy up under thick wool blankets and hot water bottles and be guided through a deep relaxation for the ultimate experience in self-care.

1pm: Refuel (lunch from the award-winning Hawarden Estate Farm Shop is included)

We’ll round up our restorative day with a hearty, warming lunch to fuel our bodies and minds and chat with like minded new friends around the fire pit.

2pm: time to say goodbye
