Ashtanga Yoga Chester & North Wales

Ashtanga Yoga is one of the oldest forms of yoga. It's essentially a set series of postures which can take approximately 90 mins to 2 hours to get through. Classes are typically led classes, where a Teacher will talk and count through the routine. The class is encouraged to follow the teacher’s lead so that everyone is almost synchronised in their movement.

Ashtanga yoga class in Chester - every Tuesday evening, 6pm @Soup Studios, Chantry Court, Chester

We had a fab Ashtanga session on Tuesday. Whilst we mostly do the same each week, it's so great to see your individual progress.

Our Tuesday evening Chester Ashtanga community is growing nicely and it's great to see everyone getting to know each other before and after class and generally having a good catch up. The lighter evenings help too. We also have a great online community join in too. Enjoying the session from the comfort of your home and still being able to feel part of the wider group is a great way to get your yoga fix with some accountability too.

If you ever can't make the physical class, you're welcome to join online, via Zoom.

We have different levels and abilities in the class but it's great to see everyone get stuck in for 90 minutes on a Tuesday evening; working hard but having fun at the same time.

We don't take ourselves too seriously and carry the ethos that Ashtanga is for everyone, whatever your ability or age. I'll always offer modifications and variations to make every pose accessible. We'll throw in a few challenges here and there that take us out of our comfort zone too. In class I can help individuals with their different needs and challenges, providing targets or a focus to ensure everyone feels like they're progressing, despite doing the same routine each week.

If you're enjoying the Tuesday Ashtanaga sessions and would like to explore more, you can bolt on online classes which are Ashtanga-based with the usual Sun Salutations and explore more technique-based postures which are a great addition to the Ashtanga class. We have a number of live classes, as well as recorded sessions to get your teeth into.

(you also get half price physical classes with membership so Ashtanga would only be £6!)

Some of our group also join me each morning for Core Drills which are a great way to progress and strengthen your body for vinyasas; jump throughs, jump backs and the fun inversions, like headstand or handstand. Even if you're not into yoga, we have a few core drill regulars who swear by the daily 15 mins to boost their running performance.

Try Core Drills, weekdays, 7:45am or catch up online

Anyway, I'd like to say thanks for joining and if it's been a little while since you've been, feel free to pop along and jump back in anytime.

PS. if you've not subscribed to my newsletter via the website yet, you'll get a £10 voucher code upon sign up. That's even more incentive to try out our other sessions.
