Ashtanga Yoga Class - Tuesdays, 6pm Chester

The Ashtanga yoga Primary series follows a set sequence of postures every time. As you become more familiar with the postures, you can start to see development and progress.

Challenge yourself and your ability

It is a challenging sequence over 90 minutes, but highly rewarding for those who consistently practice/attend. We believe everyone should have access to yoga and Ashtanga in particular, so this class is guided with modifications provided for beginners and those practicing with injuries, etc.

It's a 90 minute class, starting with our attention to the breath, followed by several Sun Salutations. We usually fit in 3x A and 3x B. After this, we move through a series of standing, balancing and seated postures, where we work in each posture for approx 5 breaths to engage muscles, develop strength and improve our flexibility. We have a closing sequence at the end where we try to do some work on our back or in an inversion. These inversions can be as relaxing or as strong as you want them to be.

Online community

The class is available as an online class so you can join from the comfort of your home but still feel part of a class community.

Hands-on adjustments

In person, I aim to focus on helping people progress, in their own practice. Each person is individual in their bodies and with their goals. As I get to know people, I offer tips and techniques to make postures more effective in terms of the benefits for each person, as well, as ensuring the postures are also accessible and safe. I provide hands-on adjustments to help guide you in the right direction.

Suitable for all levels

All levels are welcome, as we all have to start somewhere. So even, if you're brand new to Ashtanga yoga, you can start here and build on your progress, each week. All postures can be modified and I aim to make Ashtanga yoga accessible to all.

Thursday evening yoga classes

The Thursday evening class will now be a Vinyasa class, similar to the online Mondays/Saturdays yoga classes; just an hour long; and at an earlier time of 6pm. This will be online only, for the time being.
